Our History

The Chestnuts Friends Over Fifty, originally conceived in 2016 by Beacon Hill and Back Bay residents Martha McAllister and Pat Carucci, was designed as a way for women in our community to connect with others with common interests. It filled a need, and the Chestnut group grew very quickly. In 2021 the group incorporated into a nonprofit 501c7 women’s friendship group, Chestnuts Friends Over Fifty (CFOF). Our members live in Beacon Hill, Back Bay as well as other surrounding neighborhoods in Boston.

The Board of Directors is an active board that oversees the Chestnut organization and the member volunteers who run the group’s activities. Each Director serves one or more three year terms. From time to time, the Board will recruit new board members to fill a vacancy or to meet a specific need or expertise needed by the Chestnut group.
