Membership

The Chestnut board loves your enthusiasm for connecting - and we love welcoming new members! In fact, most of us would happily welcome all of Boston if we could.

It has been incredibly rewarding to watch the Chestnuts grow and see so many women become part of a larger circle of friendship, make new connections and enjoy the great activities that our members create and share.

However, our human resources are limited, and with our membership now at more than 200 women, we have reached a point where we need to pause and catch our breath.

For the first time, we are not planning to accept new members for 2027-2028.

If we experience significant membership attrition and the Board determines that we are able to welcome a limited number of new members, we will post an announcement here on our website on April 15, 2028 at that time, we will let you know:

Whether any membership openings are available
Exactly how many openings there are
How to apply
The date and time in the spring when our membership team will be accepting applications.

Once those available spots have been filled, any additional applicants will receive a notice asking you to hold your application and consider applying again in spring 2028.

We wish we had room for everyone! Our goal has always been to create a welcoming community where our more senior group of women can feel connected, develop friendships, enjoy some community spirit, learn some things and have fun along the way. Keeping The Chestnuts at a size our volunteer Board can thoughtfully manage helps us continue to provide that experience for our members.
